Call for Exhibition Proposals
Information + 2025
Northeastern University + Massachusetts Institute of Technology
The Information + 2025 Conference invites artists, designers, researchers, and practitioners to submit proposals for an exhibition that explores the theme of energy transition and its intersection with information technologies. This exhibition seeks to inspire, create, and continue conversations around innovative approaches to energy inclusion, generation, consumption, distribution, policy, and the digital tools shaping the future towards energetic sustainability.
Exhibition Theme
The exhibition will explore intersections between energy and information technologies, engaging with questions about sustainability, climate justice, and energy inclusion, digital tools for energy, and visualizations of energy flows and data. We are looking for multiple, diverse definitions of energy.
The Information+ 2025 Exhibition invites engagement with topics such as energy inclusion, sustainability, climate justice, and digital tools shaping energy systems. What does energy mean to you? How do you define it, and how does it feature in your work?
Diverse definitions of energy include:
1. Physical Science: Energy is the capacity to do work in forms like kinetic, thermal, chemical, and nuclear.
2. Environmental Science: Refers to natural resources harnessed for human use (solar, wind, fossil fuels).
3. Sociocultural Context: Symbol of vitality or momentum in communities and systems.
4. Information Technology: Power and efficiency of digital systems and computational tools.
5. Artistic/Metaphorical: Movement, emotion, and transformation in creative expression.
Funding and Support
1. Physical Installation
Funding: One project up to $3,000
Possible Locations: MIT Media Lab, Killian Court, Walker Memorial, or Northeastern University
